VIRTUAL ARTIST OF THE MONTH - APRIL 2020
Edward Hopper House is pleased to continue its Artist of the Month program, not in the Museum Shop, but ONLINE for April 2020 due to shelter-in-place and quarantine recommendations for COVID-19.
DAN SPRINGER received his formal art training at the Rhode Island School of Design, where he received his BFA in Illustration in 1991. Since then, he has done freelance illustration for various publications, including “The New York Times”, “The Village Voice”, “The Asbury Park Press”, “POV”, and “Avenue” magazine. He started his fine art career in 1996 when he founded the “4E Gallery” in Tribeca, NYC, where he showed various artists, as well as his own work every month.
He also showed at numerous galleries and clubs, including the “Ace Gallery”, the “Gershwin Gallery”, “The Tunnel” and “Faces and Names”, (159 W. 54th St.), and “Rumours” (8th Ave. & 55th St.) where he has permanent exhibitions. He has also done live caricatures at “Faces and Names” since they opened; about 23 years ago. He has worked as a live caricature artist for the past 29 years, including work at Six Flags-Great Adventure and has been living on live caricature, commissioned caricature paintings and freelance illustration projects for the past 20 years.
