BIRTHDAY ACTIVITIES: Saturday, Sunday - July 20-21

(July 22 is Edward Hopper's 142nd Birthday!)
12-5pm - July 18-21, 2024: "Hop Into Art" Lab is open for visitors of all ages to drop-in and create Art-making activities inspired by Hopper for visitors of all ages. Go on a self-guided Adult Walking Tour and discover parts of the neighborhood Hopper saw when he was here. Tour Edward Hopper House to see where he grew up, his bicycle from 1897, and our current exhibition!
Concert: Night Hawk - "Edward Hopper Recomposed" - Sunday, July 21: 5-7pm

Night Hawk is a Hopper inspired indie band currently touring the northeast this summer. Night Hawk's music often blurs the line between indie rock and performance art. Featuring a cast of intrepid players from the New England underground, their project revolves around the question: what do Edward Hopper's paintings sound like?

The band members (all recent graduates of Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine), are reprising a concert presented this spring at the Bowdoin Museum of Art on the Garden Stage of the Edward Hopper House Museum.

If there is inclement weather, the concert will be held indoors at a nearby location. See our website, emails, and social media for "rain date" notification. All pre-ticket purchasers will be notified by 3pm on concert day if the location has to change due to inclement weather.
Night Hawk's music is defined by stark geometry and bold imagery, underpinned by a deep sense of melancholia and repose. Drawing on Soir Bleu (1914), Automat (1927), Nighthawks (1942), Morning Sun (1952), and other Hopper works, the band has performed at venues and galleries across the Northeast, and grown a thousands-strong audience by word-of-mouth and electric live performances.

Night Hawk has shared the stage with national touring artists including Y La Bamba, Sadurn, Lady Lamb, Dino Gala, and Dead Gowns, and sold out headline shows in New York City, Boston, and Portland, ME. Their debut EP, Everything Good Ends (produced by Dan Capaldi) is out on all platforms and select record stores in Downeast Maine.
