Edward Hopper-Inspired Selfie Show

First Annual Digital Juried Exhibition for Young Artists

On View: Top 30 Finalists

Winner: Alie Exner (@alie_eve)

The Hopper House Juried Digital Exhibition for Young Artists started as an idea to embrace technology while simultaneously engaging youth to participate in the arts. Artists from ages 18-28 were called upon to submit Hopperesque self-portraits inspired by Edward Hopper’s use of color, subject matter, etc. Images, or “selfies” were submitted through Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Instagram in order to address today’s society and its relation to social media. Thirty of the best submitted works were chosen by the staff at Edward Hopper House Art Center and a winner will be picked by ELLE DECOR magazine. Images are also being displayed on iPads throughout the Edward Hopper House Art Center.
