POETRY READING & BOOK SIGNING - JOSEPH STANTON
On June 15th from 6-7:30, Joseph Stanton, University of Hawaii professor emeritus, will join us in the gallery to read from his new book of poetry Prevailing Winds. His verse has been inspired by important works of art, including canvases by Edward Hopper.
From Vincent van Gogh, and René Magritte to Winslow Homer and Edward Hopper, Stanton's poetry finds great inspiration in the canvases of great artists on the walls of museums around the world. Stanton will also be reading from a selection of Hopper-inspired poems from several of his earlier books, including Moving Pictures, Things Seen, and Imaginary Museum: Poems on Art.
Reserve your spot here ($5 Member, $7 Non-Member). Limited to 25. Books will be available for purchase ($16.95) and signing.

“In Prevailing Winds, Joseph Stanton’s deep understanding of artists and their medium is everywhere evident [...] texts that go beyond the aesthetics of surfaces and invite us into a deeper narrative that brings the ‘silent work of art’ to life.”
