#HOPPERHAPPENS55: JUNE 2026
A Month-Long Celebration of Edward Hopper House Museum & Study Center’s 55th Anniversary
This June, the Edward Hopper House Museum & Study Center celebrates a milestone 55th-anniversary celebration bridging past, present, and future at the birthplace of America’s iconic realist painter. What began in 1971 as a grassroots effort led by visionary trustees to save the historic home from demolition has evolved into a beloved global cultural landmark.
The month-long celebration - #HopperHappens55 - revives the spirit of the multimedia "Hopper Happens" Festival originally conceived in 2011 by artist Kristina Burns, blending contemporary creative expression with Hopper’s inspiration. Featuring a downtown-wide Juried Photography Exhibition, Open-Air Community Dinner, Live Music, and Public Mural Workshops, the celebration invites neighbors and visitors alike to experience Hopper’s legacy in the Hudson River village where it all began.
Burns will be contributing projections on the 'Hopper House’ and live staged vignettes and links to film clips in downtown Nyack as she had presented in her first festival that honored the Museum’s 40th Anniversary. In 2020, the Museum began its ever popular and long running Friday Instagram series by the same name. This campaign has evolved from a tool for connection during global isolation into a central pillar of the museum’s digital community.
Neighbors, art lovers, and visitors from near and far are invited to honor the landmark site through a series of special community events.
Every ticket purchased and donation made directly supports the Museum and champions Nyack’s vibrant arts scene.
