"#HopperHappens" Juried Photography Exhibition
Edward Hopper House Museum & Study Center (EHHM) is pleased to announce the inaugural Juried "#HopperHappens" Exhibition. This competitive exhibition is open to photographs by established and emerging artists aged 18 or older.
Images are to be inspired by #HopperHappens, the Museum's popular, long-running weekly Instagram social media series that invites photographers to share images of real-world moments that evoke the style, light, and mood of Edward Hopper's paintings. Since April 3, 2020, our Friday social media campaign posts have evolved from a tool for connection during global isolation into a central pillar of the museum's digital community.
This Juried Photography Exhibition will be juried by the distinguished artist Richard Tuschman. Tuschman began experimenting with digital imaging in the early 1990s, developing a style that synthesized his interests in photography, painting and assemblage. Since 2012, beginning with his celebrated series, Hopper Meditations, he has focused on creating cinematic, open-ended photographic narratives that explore the complexities and emotional nuances of human relationships.
This Juried Photography Exhibition takes inspiration from the 2011 and 2012 “Hopper Happens” festival organized and curated by artist Kristina Burns in downtown Nyack.

ONLINE EXHIBITION AND TOUR
The "#HopperHappens" Photography Exhibition Walking Tour will be published on the Museum's Bloomberg Connects digital guide and will be launched in May as a “Coming Soon” exhibition and will remain on the site after the event end for the summer. The digital guide will showcase the artist and their work on view, and the Hopper related image. The exhibition guide will also include a map with geo-tags linking to directly to downtown Nyack exhibition locations.
Upstate Arts Weekend (June 25-28, 2026)
The "#HopperHappens" Juried Photography Exhibition also aligns with the hugely successful Hudson Valley/Catskills arts festival, which promotes events like this plus published maps, itineraries and tours for thousands of visitors, many coming up from New York City, to explore.
